As of earlier this afternoon, all streams are once again available.
192kb MP3 and 64kb AAC+ on Flashback Alternatives
128kb MP3 on Flashback Division
Our iTunes listing has been repointed to the 192kb stream.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
We are on-the-air and broadcasting on the 128kb stream. We are still having issues with the 192kb and 64kb AAC+ streams. Please use the 128kb stream from either the Flashback Alternatives or Flashback Division websites.
You can also find the 128kb stream on the Shoutcast and IceCast directories (search for Flashback Division). In addition, until the 192kb and 64kb stream issues are resolved, I will be redirecting our iTunes listing to the 128kb stream.
Thank you for your patience.
Flashback Alternatives and Flashback Division are currently offline. Our playlist servers themselves are up and running, but we are having difficulty connecting to our broadcast servers at Sonixcast.
This started around 1pm (ET) today. We did come back up for around 30 minutes around 4pm (ET).
I do have a ticket open, and other broadcasters are mentioning they are having issues as well.
I am hopeful this will be resolved before tomorrow.
I know that FA has had some website and broadcasting issues lately, and I apologize. We are working on ensuring Flashback Alternatives is able to continue on in a cost effective manner, while still being able to provide commercial free services. This all part of the growing pains in using a fairly new provider that is attracting a lot of attention.
Thank you for your patience.
Flashback Alternatives will be offline from 11am to approximately Noon (ET) for system and server upgrades.
We also expect the Flashback Alternatives website to be up and running later today. The Flashback Division website will also remain operational.
Thank you for your patience and as always, thanks for listening to Flashback Alternatives.
Website Issues Resolved
Our website issues have been resolved – at least for now. The issue was with some rouge indexing bots. We have taken steps to prevent this from occurring. Our host will be monitoring the site for the next week to see if the steps were effective. If not, we will be back in the same situation.
As a precaution, I am creating a backup site with another host. If we run into issues, it will be a simple matter of pointing to the new host.
We Are Back With Sonixcast
After running a non-public test stream for the past few months on our sister station, Flashback Division, I am satisfied that the bulk of the growing pains SonixCast was experiencing have passed. Our iTunes stream now points to the 192kb SonixCast feed. The FA website listen links have also been updated.
You will no longer be able to use the StreamLicensing app on your smart device. However, any app that supports the ShoutCast directory can be used to tune in. Our 192kb and 64kb streams are listed. If you bookmarked the StreamLicensing streams, please update to the new SonixCast streams.
Thank you for your patience, and as always, thanks for listening to Flashback Alternatives.
We are continuing to work with our current hosting provider, TMD Hosting, to resolve our issues. TMD Hosting suspended our account due to a drastic increase in bandwidth and disk I/O. This was the correct action to take on their part. Since there were no changes to the FA site, I am working with them to determine the cause and rectify.
I am hopeful we will be able to resolve the issue. If not, I will be moving on to another host this weekend.
Please bookmark this page (https://flashbackalternatives.wordpress.com), as this is our backup site, and will always be reachable.

Note: Our iTunes listing calls a file that is hosted on the FA website. As a result, our iTunes listing is not working. Please use the Tune In link above (or in the links area) to Tune In.
Thank you for your patience and for listening to Flashback Alternatives!
I am happy to announce that Flashback Alternatives is back on the air as of 6:25am this morning!
Just in time for Friday Bad 70s (affectionately known as Poo Friday’s!).
Thank you for your patience!
